About me

Engineer by trade, designer by training.

For more than ten years I’ve been building for the web: in-house, at agencies and as a freelancer. Today I’m Software Manager at The Powerplus Group, where I own an in-house compliance platform end to end — .NET Core services, client APIs and automated jobs on the back end, React TypeScript and Chakra UI on the front.

Before that I built component libraries at NetConstruct, shipped campaigns, microsites and hundreds of HTML emails for brands like Nespresso, British Gas and Arden University at award-winning agency Really B2B, and kept a three-million-visitor charity site healthy at Avert. Alongside all of that I run Extra Web Solutions, building websites and web apps for clients, plus my own SaaS products.

My BA in Digital Design keeps me honest about the user: I care about clean, reliable code, but I care just as much about how the finished thing feels to use.

Brands I’ve built for

How I work

Remote-first, built on three simple rules.

Four-plus years of remote delivery taught me that great work is mostly great habits. These are the ones I never skip.

  1. 01

    Communicate constantly

Short, frequent updates beat long silences. Talking early and often with colleagues and clients stops small misunderstandings from turning into expensive mistakes.

  2. 02

    Set daily goals

Every day starts with a short, written list of outcomes. It’s the single most effective habit I’ve found for staying focused and productive when working remotely.

  3. 03

    Protect peak hours

Remote work lets me schedule deep engineering for the hours I think most clearly, and keep meetings, reviews and admin for the rest of the day.

Toolbox

The stack I reach for.

A decade across agencies, product teams and freelance work means I’m comfortable picking the right tool rather than the familiar one.

Experience

Where I’ve worked.

From charity Drupal sites to compliance platforms — every role added something to the toolbox.

  1. Mar 2025 — Present

    Software Manager (Full-stack Developer)

    The Powerplus Group

Own an in-house compliance platform end to end: .NET Core services, automated cron jobs and client APIs, plus React TypeScript and Chakra UI features such as SendGrid email integrations. I review every change, monitor Azure resources, run CI/CD deployments and mentor junior developers.

  2. Jun 2023 — Dec 2023

    Frontend UI Engineer

    NetConstruct (now IDHL)

Built React TypeScript components with styled-components and Storybook, created JSON and GraphQL mock APIs, automated builds with Node.js, Gulp and Grunt, and extended C# back ends in Kentico and Umbraco. Deployed via Azure DevOps and tested with LambdaTest.

  3. Jan 2021 — Present

    Freelance Full-stack Developer

    Extra Web Solutions

Run my own studio alongside employment, designing and building websites, Shopify stores and web applications for clients, from Eastern Procurement’s React site and admin dashboard to the DALVITY store. I also build and run my own SaaS products: Ops Pilot CRM, PowerFlow and CoachSync.

  4. Sep 2020 — Dec 2023

    Frontend & Email Developer

    Really B2B

Developed microsites, landing pages, quizzes and email master templates for Nespresso, Bottomline, Travelodge, Arden University, British Gas and more, across Marketo, Pardot, Adestra, Responsys and HubSpot. Also managed the Centaur group’s WordPress estate.

  5. Sep 2018 — Jul 2020

    Frontend Developer (part-time)

    AGN — African Global Networking

Worked alongside backend developers while studying, building and styling components for a React web application.

  6. Jul 2015 — Feb 2017

    SEO Technician

    Teal & Mackrill

Improved rankings for three e-commerce sites through keyword research, on-site optimisation, URL rewrites and link building, with monthly reporting in Google Analytics and Search Console.

  7. Oct 2013 — Jul 2015

    Front End Developer

    Avert

Maintained a Drupal site with over three million monthly visitors — keeping modules secure, building pages, forms and pop-ups, fixing cross-browser issues and training the fundraising team on Google Ads.

What’s next?

Let’s build something worth using.

A new product, a stubborn legacy app, or a campaign that has to land in every inbox — I’d love to hear about it.
